Have your next party or company meeting at THE KELLY HOTEL For information or party reservations please call 716)736-KELY(5359) Prior to 1801 Route 20 was an Indian trail passing through a dense wilderness, Called Ellicott road. At first, it came to be know as Buffalo-Erie road after an 1805 survey and it was along this road that the earliest settlements were made. The old Indian trail passed in front of what is now The Kelly Hotel ... and before that was the hospice of Mr. James Truesdail. It is believed to have been around 1824 when James Truesdail commenced proprietorship of a stage coach inn/tavern at this location, presumably in this very building. In 1928 Harry and Nellie Kelly purchased the premises and first made the name Kelly Hotel synonymous with good food. Steaks were their specialty and there are many today who remember "the good old days". It was not uncommon for the Kelly's to serve 1,000 chicken dinners on a Sunday and cars would be parked all the way back into Pennsylvania, and for nostalgia buffs the price of a chicken dinner was 35cents! The Kelly's operated the hotel until 1945. Then came a span of subsequent owners who operated the premises primarily as a bar. The Bowser brothers, Mark and Tim, local transport company owners, bought the property in the fall of 1985. Determined to recapture the 1800's era of the Kelly Hotel the Bowser's painstakingly restored the premises to it's former hardwood and brass design including the beautiful open air second story, with a fine restaurant and great "old tavern feel" the Bowser's opened the present establishment June 15, 1986. It is the aim of The Kelly Hotel to provide you with a memorable dining experience.
